Phase 1 of the Madagascar Basketball Championship N1A Men and Ladies, for the Center area, is starting this Saturday at the Vatofoty gymnasium, in Antsirabe. Six male clubs and six female will compete in the first four qualifying places before the return phase, then the final phase which will be played at the Mahamasina Sports Palace, scheduled for late September and early October.
In the male category, the ASCUT ATSINANANA club, vice-champion of Madagascar 2024, is given favorite to compete in the League Cup final, the name of the final phase to which the best four teams, both among girls and in boys, will play the semi-finals after the point count.
Despite its favorite status, the ascut will have much to face the other male clubs such as the Cospn Analamanga, the SBC Vakinakaratra, the Cosfa Analamanga, 619 generation Menabe and the ASB Itasy.
The first opponents of basketball players in the urban commune of Toamasina will be the players of the Omnisport club of the National Police, or Cospn. Deprived of the national title two years in a row, in 2023 and 2024, the police are under pressure: the year 2025 will be a year of reconquest for a new national title, even if it will not be easy in the face of very determined opponents.

Always alongside his players during training in the small room of the Mahamasina sports palace, with a view to preparing phase 1 of the national summit in Antsirabe, Samy Olivier Harison, president of COSPN, displays the ambitions of his team with caution:
“The two years without title were a long scarcity. The objective is to win this national title for the honor of the club, which has talented players. Winning the national title would be a reward for our supporters, impatient to see their team appropriate a new coronation. »»
In the female category, an Ascut-Jea duel is possible for the conquest of the League Cup. These two clubs are largely favorite in front of the other four teams: Fandsa (Haute Matsiatra), Ankaratra (Vakinakaratra), USJFM (Atsimo Andrefana) and Varsity (Anosy).
Placed as outsider in the female category, the Varsity of Anosy team, for its second year in N1A, aims to go as far as possible.
